What Professor Goose is

Professor Goose is an AI study tool operated by an individual based in the United Kingdom. You explain a topic; the Goose asks Socratic follow-up questions to help surface gaps in your understanding. It does not give you answers, and it is not a substitute for a qualified teacher, tutor, or professional advisor of any kind.

By using Professor Goose, whether as a registered user or a guest, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

14-day cooling-off period. As a consumer, you have the right to cancel a new Premium subscription within 14 days of your first payment and receive a full refund, unless you have already made substantial use of the Premium features during that period. By subscribing and accessing Premium features immediately, you expressly request early performance of the service and acknowledge that your right to a full refund may be reduced proportionally by use already received. To cancel within the cooling-off period, email professorgooseapp@gmail.com.

We do not offer refunds for partial months outside the cooling-off period, but you retain Premium access until the end of your paid period. Pricing and plan features may change. We will give at least 30 days' notice by email before any price increase takes effect.

Accounts and access

  • You must be 13 or older to create an account. If you are under 18, you should have permission from a parent or guardian before subscribing to a paid plan.
  • You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. Do not share your account with others.
  • We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, engage in abuse, or attempt to circumvent plan limits or usage controls.

Using the service without an account

You may try Professor Goose without creating an account. Guest sessions are limited to a fixed number of replies. To enforce this limit, we store a hashed version of your IP address and a browser-generated device identifier. This data is not linked to any personal account and is purged within 7 days.

These terms and our Privacy Policy apply to guest use as well as registered use.

How not to use it

  • Do not attempt to extract answers or use the Goose as a shortcut for work you are supposed to produce yourself. The tool is for learning, not for bypassing it.
  • Do not attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or systematically abuse the service or its API limits.
  • Do not submit content that is unlawful, harmful, or infringes the rights of others.
  • Do not use Professor Goose to harass, impersonate, or harm any person.
  • Do not upload files you do not have the right to share.

How responses are generated

Professor Goose uses Groq, a third-party AI inference service, to generate the Goose's responses. When you send a message, it is transmitted to Groq's servers for processing. By using the service you acknowledge this. Do not submit sensitive personal information, such as passwords, financial details, or medical information, during a study session.

The quality and accuracy of AI-generated responses depends on the underlying model and may vary. The Goose can be wrong. Do not rely on its responses as factually definitive, particularly for high-stakes assessments.

Who owns what

You own the content you submit. By submitting it, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to process and store it solely for the purpose of running the service for you. We do not claim ownership of your study content.

The Goose's responses are AI-generated. We do not claim copyright in those responses, and you may use them freely for your personal study purposes.

Professor Goose, its branding, interface, and underlying software are owned by us or our licensors. You may not copy, resell, or redistribute any part of the service.

Uptime and changes

We aim for reliable uptime but do not guarantee it. The service may be unavailable during maintenance, due to issues with third-party providers (including our AI or hosting infrastructure), or due to circumstances outside our control (including internet outages, force majeure events, or third-party service failures).

We may modify or remove features at any time. If we discontinue the service entirely, we will give at least 30 days' notice by email and pro-rate any unused paid subscription time.

We will notify you of material changes to these terms by email or by a prominent notice in the app. Continued use after the effective date of a change constitutes acceptance.

What we are not

Professor Goose is a study support tool, not a qualified teacher, examiner, or professional advisor. Its responses are generated by an AI language model and may contain errors, omissions, or outdated information. Do not rely solely on Professor Goose to prepare for any high-stakes examination, professional qualification, or important decision.

The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We make no warranties, express or implied, regarding fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of AI responses, or uninterrupted availability.

Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or other applicable UK law.

Limits on our liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, including UK consumer protection legislation, which we do not seek to limit, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service, including any reliance on AI-generated responses.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these terms or the service will not exceed the greater of: (a) the total amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) £10.

This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under UK law.

Resolving problems

If you have a complaint or dispute, please contact us first at professorgooseapp@gmail.com. We will try to resolve any issue promptly and fairly.

We are not currently a member of an approved Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) scheme. If we cannot resolve a dispute directly, you may be entitled to use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform or seek resolution through the courts.

Jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. If you are a consumer resident in another jurisdiction, you may also have the right to bring a claim in your local courts under applicable consumer protection laws.
